REMOTE: Office Not Required
“Coming into the office just means people have to put on pants.”
If you’re trying to convince your boss to let you work remotely, this is the book for you. The problem is that once you get your wish, it offers very little advice on the how of doing it. Other than a possibly-helpful list of tools at the very end of the book and one or two quick tips, there’s not much in there that you will actually be able to put into practice. I would have liked to read a section written by the employees at Basecamp on their approach to working together remotely, and the workflows and tips that they surely have.
Overall, it’s an easy read that you should check out if you either want to convince someone of the benefits of working remotely or want a very general overview of what it’s all about. If you’re looking for practical knowledge though, I wouldn’t bother. ★★★☆☆
