Raph Koster summarises the difference between the UX design of games and the UX design of apps & websites in an excellent one-liner:

UX design is about removing problems from the user. Game design is about giving problems to the user.

The rest of the piece goes on to explain what he thinks the other differences are as well as a very brief look at the history of UX design in games. Whilst I don’t agree with all of it, it’s an interesting read overall.
